I'm Andrea. Thanks for having a look around.

I was seven when I got hold of my first camera (my dad's Polaroid OneStep!) and I've been taking pictures pretty much ever since - I even had my own dark room in high school. In a past life I was an advertising/marketing copywriter, but that can be our little secret. While I started out as a family photographer, I also do a lot of small business and small wedding photography and I equally enjoy all of it. And no matter who or what I’m shooting, I think the most beautiful photos are the ones taken using natural light so I try to stick with that as much as possible.

Have I mentioned that I'm American? Maybe that can be our little secret, too. In 2005 I moved here from NYC where I used to shoot weddings and headshots on the side but I’ve never looked back – Edinburgh is an amazing place to live and raise my two lovely boys. Children are amazing and so funny and I feel really privileged to be able to come into people's lives for wee while and make a bit of magic happen. And don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise – good photography is magic!

I’ll also make a quick little mention here that my photos have been featured in Vogue, The Times, the Guardian and Grazia and have won numerous awards, recently including the British Journal of Photography Portrait of Britain Award three times, and the 3rd place prize in the Scottish Portrait awards among others. I can’t promise that the photos I take for you will win any awards, but I put my heart and soul into all the photos I take.

Anyone can cobble together a portfolio of decent individual shots, but if I were hiring a photographer I'd want to see exactly what they could do for me from start to finish. Have a peek at some of the photos on my blog so you can see what a whole session looks like. And for some more up-to-date photos, please check out my instagram.
