Ooh it was cold, it was. And wet. But we got some super lovely family photos of these guys just being a family. It was quick. And it was easy. Mini sessions are great because I take a lotttt of photos in a short amount of time, so everyone wins. If you want some photos of your family but don’t have a lot of time (or energy!), I’m your photographer!
Lesley is the loveliest person, and one of the strongest people I’ve met as well, in every way possible. Genuinely. We do a bootcamp together, and it was so great to meet her ginormous family and get a few photos of them enjoying the Autumn weather together.
It was peak autumn, in one of the prettiest places I’ve seen in this area, and the light was perfect. Three gorgeous children, two pretty gorgeous parents, and bulldog called Steve. Steve! I just loved every minute of this photo session and was equally psyched to discover Gosford Estate in Longniddry - what a place!
This is the first time I’ve been hired to take photos at a party but what a great idea! This was a super special 80th birthday celebration where a big family who lives all over the country got together to celebrate. Everyone was in the photos, with lots of candid shots and a few more formal portraits, and no one had to fuss with a camera phone and play photographer, because they had one….
I’ve been contacted many times before to take photos of people while they’re on vacation here in Edinburgh, but this was the first time I’ve been free to do it. These guys were so absolutely lovely - a massive family spread out all over the US, and they all met up here for a fun holiday together sightseeing and watching The Open….
In addition to the fact that I'm a bit of a fan girl of Emily's work, this was such a great session because these guys just got on with what they'd do on a typical Saturday, and I was there, sometimes in the foreground…
I walked into their home and within seconds, Finn was showing me his toys and Maggie gave me a bit of pancake. I felt like I'd known these guys forever in the best way possible, and it was super lovely…
This was a house full of boy — mama Sorour is very much outnumbered! Such a lovely family in an uber-beautiful Edinburgh home, a photographer couldn't ask for much more than that!
Three hens, three horses, three ponies, one grandmother (with her own dog), two parents, two children and one more on the way. Please can I do all the rest of my photo sessions on a farm? So. Much. Fun.
Well this was fun! It was just after Hogmanay (don't let the jacket-less photos fool you - it was cold!), and how lovely is it to have a family photo session…
For at least an entire five minutes after I finished this session, I wish we'd had four children instead of two. The Reids were the largest family I've photographed yet…
These guys used to live in my neighbourhood and we eventually got to chatting on random street corners, at Starbucks, etc. So I was thrilled at the opportunity to photograph them at home…
This, too, will go down as one of my favourite Edinburgh photo sessions ever. The Gilzeans were so nice and completely gorgeous, the Botanics were looking prime and it was just really good fun…
Jenni was the runner-up in my photo session give-away, and when I realised she lived around the corner and her eldest went to the same school as my boys, I offered her a free mini photo session…
I love North Berwick. Like, love love. Enough to move there, but we're pretty happy here in Edinburgh so it's not on the cards. But imagine my delight when I got the opportunity to photograph this cute family…
The last time I photographed these guys, they were living across town and had one fewer child. I love being able to photograph a family as they grow, and it especially helps when they're so stinkin' cute.
Before a session, people often ask what they 'should do' when I'm there. Do what you do, I usually say. In this case, that meant whipping out some paper and paint and getting creative among other thigns, which I just loved.
I've known these guys a long time so photographing them was great fun, but it was especially enjoyable because we wandered around the woods behind the place where my husband and I got married!
Emily and I met at the swing park (as you do) and I was delighted to have the opportunity to take photos of her beautiful family in their uber beautiful Edinburgh home before they moved back to the Big Smoke. Have a sneaky peek at some of my photos below!
